Description of the research group

The research group collaborate with the RG Urban Planning (reference person: Elena Marchigiani), in several cross cutting research works. Beside these, Exclusive research topic of the group follow, that address different goals.

Research topic 1: sustainable building design. Design building resilience and adaptation to climate change through nature-based solutions and technologies with a low environmental impact. Energy efficiency in buildings and energy communities to empower the green transition.Innovative materials and technologies for envelopes and smart buildings. Building carbon footprint and performance. The applied research is addressed towards the setting of indicators and standards for better performing buildings.

Reserach topic 2: Innovative design process. New models for building functioning. Management of the design and building process. Building information modelling.Facility Management. The impact of PPP at the design and building stage. The applied research is addressed towards the application of BIM models to manage building heritage and to the set up a performance evaluation framework for public works.

Research topic 3: Design for inclusion. Accessibility and Inclusione design. PEBA. Wayfinding. The applied research is addressed towards the definition of methods and tools to verify the design compliance with the principles of Universal Planning.
