Energy and Heat transfer modelling
Description of the research group
The research group deals with all aspects of heat transfer and optimization for industrial and civil problems. The research group employs numerical and experimental methods. Numerical analysis for complex CFD problems is done using commercial codes, such as Fluent. New approaches, encompassing the meshless methods for CFD and heat transfer problems, are being addressed with specially developed codes. Energy savings in buildings and HVAC systems are treated both numerically and experimentally. The team is particularly experienced in performing dynamic energy simulations of buildings and HVAC systems, the analysis has also extended to the treatment of weather data related to climate change using GCM-RCM weather data projections. Experimental methods may concern the monitoring of entire buildings or the measurement of local environmental and health parameters. The performance of individual components, such as internal insulation systems, is measured in a specialized laboratory.
