IE-FLUIDS

Description of the research group

The IE-FLUIDS laboratory has a long-standing experience in industrial and environmental computational fluid dynamics, from forefront numerical model development to their application to academic cases as to engineering applications. The aim of the research group is to develop cutting-edge numerical techniques, also caring of technology transfer.

In the past twenty years the group worked on problems related to: turbulent flow (with eddy-resolving techniques), conjugate heat transfer, multiphase flows, environmental risk analysis, hydraulic structures, indoor and outdoor pollutant dispersion, fluid-structure interaction. The group has developed strong skills on hydroacoustic modeling applied to cases of engineering interest, such as ship propellers and turbines. Mathematical and numerical models have been developed to study noise propagation in ocean environment and to assess fluid dynamics and acoustics of flows in a cavitating regime.
